April Ross
April Ross was one of only a few women beach volleyball stars who won medals at multiple Olympics. Alix-Klineman will compete with Ross at Tokyo to win her third gold in the next couple of days. Ross's aim is to get her first Olympic gold medal. Perhaps it is her last opportunity, given that she is 39 years old. But she's still convinced of winning top awards. Ross was reported by NBC Boston as saying that when you perform at your very highest, and even perform well, you will win the gold. In addition, I'll try the opportunity to try my chances. Ross was born in California, Costa Mesa in 1982. Her parents as well as her sister were residents in the area. Her athletic career was continued by Newport Harbor High School where she participated in several sports. As a pre-schooler, she competed in indoor volleyball along with basketball as well as running track. However she was clearly a cut above the rest in the latter sport. In her high school volleyball career in her university biography she played as an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. The award was presented to her as the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999 for her achievements. Her skills in volleyball won her the Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Ross is playing with Klineman since 2017, but Ross's beach game had been established long before the year. Actually Ross has won a number of major tournaments in her career with two partners. One of them is a volleyball legend. She teamed up together with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and she also served as Klineman's trainer. Ross, the teammate of Kessy's, who won the world title with Kessy in 2009, also was a major force on international stage. At the 2012 Olympic Games, they won a gold medal. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor clinched gold overtaking them. Ross Jennings was May-Treanor's replacement after she had retired. They both went on to take home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. They were joined by Walsh Jennings. Ross was a student athlete for USC Trojans before starting her professional career. She played during high school, as well as before hitting the beach as a professional. Ross's time in the Trojans was impressive. She was a All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year in 2000 as a young freshman. In addition, she helped her Trojans get to the Final Four. After her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal loss, yet was able to be named an All-American. In her last two seasons in the Trojans team, she led them to success by winning two consecutive national championships. Individually she had cemented herself as an all-time great by winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross was a major in the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter achieve the heights of the beach volleyball ladder. Ross's mother passed away from cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. But she still keeps her parents close to her heart. Margie has inspired her both in her personal life and at the beaches.
